Designer Dad?

As if the Gosselin family hasn’t been in the news enough lately, here’s yet another round of mixed fact and fiction for audiences to feast on: Is Jon Gosselin partnering with Ed Hardy designer Christian Audigier to create a new children’s line of clothing?  We’re not quite sure what the answer is, as mixed reports have left us confused. What we do know, however, is that this newly single 32-year-old spent some quality time with Audigier on his yacht in St. Tropez. (And brought Hailey Glassman, rumored girlfriend of 22, along for the trip.)

Last week, both Gosselin and Audigier told media outlets of their ambitious business partnership. “We would like to do a line of children’s clothing,” Audigier told E! News. It was rumored that Audigier recognized his clothing on Jon in a number of Jon and Kate episodes, and approached the father of 8 with this idea. Throughout the season, it was obvious Jon was a fan of Audigier’s hip and pricey clothing line – he’s been seen in Ed Hardy tees, sweatshirts, and jeans over the past few months. But is it possible brand loyalty could land this unemployed dad a job?

This week, however, the story has changed. Reps of Audigier have firmly told Us that there is absolutely no children’s line in the works. But E! insists they were told by Audigier himself about his new endeaver. Now we’re really confused. Perhpas this reality TV star, his new girlfriend, and a famous French designer don’t need an excuse to schmooze on the French Riviera- but it’s still got us curious. Has anybody heard anything else about this? Will we be seeing 8 kids modeling dad’s designs, or is this business plan a dud?

Barf. Are you serious about this? I am fine with his clothing line – but showing off his 22-year old girlfriend to the media is gross.

I actually like the idea of a Ed Hardy kids clothing line. The selection of brand name kids clothing today is very limited. It seems like a good market to enter. As for his 22 year old girlfriend, I do not like that idea. She is way too young for him and he has 8 kids! Kate and him just broke up and he has other responsibilities to be thinking about besides a girl that has no idea what she wants in life.

That’s…interesting. I feel like he’s got enough to worry about with, you know, eight kids and an extremely public divorce, but I guess he’s used to multi-tasking. And while the 22-year-old girlfriend is plenty to roll your eyes at, what really gets me is the kids and how they’re faring with nanny #479 and psychomom while Dad is hanging out on his yacht halfway around the world. Hey, whatever keeps him in the spotlight though, right? Ick.
