The White House vs. VBH

How much is our First Lady Spending?!!

As a blogger of celebrity fashion, I know firsthand how hard it is to identify what celebrities are wearing. What brand is that? How much does it cost? Where can you find it? These questions are not always easy to answer! Well, I’m glad to know I’m not the only one who struggles!

Noted last week on NYDailyNews.com, First Lady Michelle Obama was recently spotted in Russia with what VBH–an Italian luxury goods company–claimed to be their $5,950 crocodile envelope clutch. (You would think they’d know – it’s their own  bag!) BUT, according to White House officials, the bag is in fact VBH’s patent leather clutch, which costs only $875. After putting up a fight, VBH reps had a “change of heart,” if you will. They now claim the White House is correct in saying the bag could not possibly be the nearly $6,000 version. More agitated individuals of the company continue to claim “patent leather does not have scales,” after zooming in on Michelle’s designer clutch. Check it out for yourself and let us know what you think. Which VBH bag is it? Do you think it matters? Her clutch (regardless of which one it is!) is part of VBH’s spring 2009 collection, and difficult to find on the internet. So I provided you with a pricy Barney’s version of a similar croc bag (made in Italy, too!), and a cheaper a cheaper La Regale Clutch that looks a lot like the First Lady’s. If you like her look, steal it!

Who the hell cares? The Obama’s are fairly well-to-do, since he wrote two best-selling books, and as long as it’s not the taxpayer footing the bill for her clothes (or the Democratic party ala Palin) who gives a rip?

I’m very cool with Prez Obama and 1st Lady Obama. They can buy whatever they want as long as I’m not paying for it.
As for the purse, I’m just looking at one more over priced, butt ugly handbag that won’t be worth half of what was paid for it within a years time, because it will be replaced by 100 other over priced, butt ugly handbags that will end up being analyzed on sites like this.
    Women — free yourselves.
    Don’t believe the hype.
    Seriously.

I don’t think the writer cared how much it cost. She was just stating what it was and where you can find it. Although I did think that it was slightly funny that VBH didn’t know which bag she was carrying and it was from their own line of products.

Personally I’ll go with the $40 bag from endless.com
